Funding Florida-Friendly Landscaping

Tampa Bay Water’s board of directors is once again funding the Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough county Florida-Friendly Landscaping (FFL) program. The board voted at its regular meeting to provide a total of $404,500 to the conservation program, which focuses on increasing water use efficiency within the tri-county region.

Harmful Algal Blooms No Threat to Water Supply

This summer, Toledo’s drinking water was declared unsafe due to a massive blue-green algae bloom in Lake Erie. Thankfully, Tampa Bay Water’s member governments don’t have to worry about blue-green algae. Should the algae become prevalent in area surface water, Tampa Bay Water’s treatment plant can remove it and its toxins through a multi-barrier treatment process.

Water Flowing Into Reservoir

Tampa Bay Water is once again storing water in the region’s water savings account, the C.W. Bill Young Regional Reservoir. Since July 25, 2014, an average of 129 million gallons of water has flowed into the reservoir daily and approximately 5 billion gallons has been banked.
