Water Conservation and Protection Mini-grant Program

Joining Forces to Conserve Water and Protect Our Sources
Tampa Bay Water is dedicated to conserving water and protecting our region’s drinking water sources and we need your help. Communities and individual citizens have an important role in keeping our drinking water sources clean, plentiful and safe.
In the Tampa Bay area, our drinking water comes from groundwater, river water and seawater. Because our region depends on these sources for our drinking water supply, it is important to take action to conserve and protect them.
That’s why Tampa Bay Water offers the Water Conservation and Protection Mini-grant Program with $50,000 in grant money available to help fund projects and events by local community groups, nonprofit groups, schools and universities. Grants range from $2,000 to $10,000 for activities that help conserve water and protect regional drinking water sources and the ecosystem.
The Water Conservation and Protection Mini-grant Program is a great way for the community to get involved in keeping our environment and drinking water supplies safe for years to come.

The Pasco Education Foundation will use grant funding to support educational initiatives at the Starkey Environmental Education Center, including the Watershed Ambassador Program for 7th graders and the Eco-Researchers Program for high school students. The project aims to educate Pasco County students about watershed dynamics, pollution prevention and their relationship to drinking water safety. This will be accomplished through classroom lessons and hands-on activities designed to explore the connections between land use, pollution and water quality in Tampa Bay’s watersheds. The project will directly impact approximately 5,500 7th-grade students annually through the Watershed Ambassador Program, in addition to high school students participating in the Eco-Researchers program.
