Cypress Creek Lab Building Transformer Replacement

Located in central Pasco County, the Cypress Creek Water Treatment Plant provides treatment disinfection, ground storage and high service pumping of groundwater from the Cross Bar Ranch and Cypress Creek wellfields and regional water. It delivers approximately 90 million gallons per day of drinking water to the regional system.

Overview

This project will replace a 14.4 kV utility-owned transformer with a new 2.4 kV Tampa Bay Water-owned transformer. Adjusting the voltage on the transformer will allow the lab to be fed from existing switchgear that is currently backed up by two 2.4 kV generators. This new configuration will provide standby power to all equipment in the laboratory building with automatic transfer during loss of utility power.

Benefits

This project improves system reliability and resiliency by automatically transferring all equipment in the Cypress Creek Lab Building to backup power during a disruption.

Cost

The budget for the project is $277,787.

Time Frame

Construction is scheduled to be completed in end of 2025.

Public Impacts

This project has no public impact as all work is contained within Tampa Bay Water property.
